At Murai you never share the grounds. When you stay, the whole estate is yours: an acre of lawns and old trees running down to the Chalakudy river, a private pool and gazebo, and a sundowner deck where the day ends quietly over the water.
Forty minutes upstream is Athirappilly, the largest waterfall in Kerala. Down here the river is calmer, and so is everything else.
